About me for marriage biodata: 32 examples

The About Me paragraph is the only part of a biodata that sounds like a person. It is also the part most people leave blank, or copy from somewhere. Here is a simple way to write yours, with 32 examples to start from: tap one and it opens in your biodata, ready to make your own.

What to write in About Me

A family reading your biodata already knows your height, degree and job from the details above. This paragraph answers the question they are really asking: what is this person like to live with? Cover five things.

  • Your nature, in a few words. Two or three words people who know you would use: calm, cheerful, practical, curious.
  • Your work, simply. What you do and where, in words your relatives would understand.
  • Your family and home. Who you live with, and what home feels like.
  • How you spend your time. Two or three real interests, not a long list.
  • The marriage you hope for. One sentence about the partnership you want. Keep the details for partner expectations.

Aim for 60 to 120 words, about four to six sentences. That is long enough to sound like a person, short enough to read in twenty seconds, and short enough to keep your biodata on one page.

A simple formula if you are stuck

Fill in the blanks, then change the words until it sounds like you talking.

  • I am a ____ at ____ in ____, and what I enjoy most about my work is ____.
  • I grew up in ____ with ____, and family means ____ to me.
  • People who know me would say I am ____, ____ and ____.
  • In my free time I ____, ____ and ____.
  • I am looking for a partner who is ____ and ____, and I hope we can ____.

When parents write it

Parents often prepare the biodata, and that is perfectly normal. Write in the third person (“Our son is…”) and ask your son or daughter to read it before you send it. It should still sound like them, not like a recommendation letter.

Make an example your own

  • Change every fact. City, job, family and hobbies must be yours. A family will ask about them at the first meeting.
  • Add one detail only you could write. “I make the best dal baati in the family” is remembered. “I like cooking” is not.
  • Read it aloud. If it doesn’t sound like you talking, change the words until it does.
  • Ask someone who knows you. A sibling or a close friend will tell you quickly if it’s too modest or too much.
  • Keep it under 120 words. If your biodata runs onto a second page, this paragraph is the first place to trim.

What to leave out

  • Looks. Your photo already shows them. Use this paragraph for what a photo can’t show.
  • Salary, caste and property. These have their own fields, if you include them at all. Repeated here, they read like a sales pitch.
  • A list of demands. This paragraph is about you. What you’re looking for gets one sentence here, and the details go under partner expectations.
  • Big claims. “Extremely successful, very handsome” helps nobody. Plain facts do.
  • Clichés on their own. “Simple, homely, God-fearing” says very little. If you use a word like that, add a sentence that shows it.
  • Phone numbers and addresses. They belong in the contact section, which you can leave off the copy you send to people you don’t know yet.

Next step: put it on your biodata

Your About Me sits next to your details, family and photo. Make your biodata for free in about ten minutes and download a print-ready PDF. If this is your first one, see how to make a biodata first.

Questions

What should I write in the About Me section of a marriage biodata?+

Your nature in a few words, your work, your family, how you spend your free time, and one sentence about the marriage you hope for. Four to six sentences is enough.

How long should About Me be in a biodata?+

Between 60 and 120 words. On a one-page design with a sidebar, one or two lines is often all that fits, so use a short version there.

Should About Me be in the first person or the third person?+

Use the first person (“I am…”) if you write it yourself, and the third person (“Our daughter is…”) if your parents write it. Both are common. Just don’t mix the two.

Can I copy one of these examples as it is?+

Start from one, but change the facts so every line is true for you. Families compare many biodatas, and a paragraph copied word for word is easy to spot.

Should I mention salary or caste in About Me?+

No. If you want to share them, use their own fields in the biodata. This paragraph is for what the fields can’t say.

Can I write About Me in Hindi or my own language?+

Yes. Type it in your language and choose that language for the biodata. Jodinama prints Hindi, Marathi, Gujarati, Punjabi, Bengali, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada and Malayalam biodatas.

Is what I type sent anywhere?+

No. Your biodata, including your About Me, is saved only in your browser on this device, and the PDF is made on your device.
